The Southern Illinois Invasive Plant Strike Team, along with the River to River CWMA, recently worked with Hayes Canyon Campground to control a high-priority population of garlic mustard. This infestations has been under active management by the campground owners for the last five years and the Strike Team and CWMA offered to assist in control efforts. On May 13th, adult garlic mustard plants were hand-pulled and removed and rosettes were sprayed. Additionally, a small population along a trail at Hayes Canyon, first discovered by Shawnee National Forest employees, was treated.
