Devil's Kitchen Lake - Brazilian Elodea Treatment

Two locations at Devil's Kitchen Lake on Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge with the invasive aquatic plant Brazilian Elodea, Egeria densa, was treated this month.  The locations were originally discovered during the CWMA's Boat Ramp Survey in the summer of 2008.  An eradication plan was developed by Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge with the help of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the River to River CWMA.  The lake will be resurveyed during the summer of 2009 and any locations retreated.  Surveying will continue for at least three years to ensure eradication.
