Crab Orchard NWR receives grant to work with volunteers on invasive species

Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge is the recipient of a 2009 grant through the US Fish and Wildlife Service for working on invasive species using volunteers.  Funds from this grant will allow Crab Orchard to utilize volunteers to survey for and help control invasive plants on the refuge.  Crab Orchard is participating in the Illinois Weed Watch Program, developed by the River to River CWMA and the Sierra Club, and will use the information gathered by volunteers through this program to implement volunteer work days to remove high-priority invasive plant species.
